Sarah J. Maas herself has recently said that her preferred reading order is The Assassin’s Blade after Crown of Midnight.

There is some debate among fans, about the correct approach to reading the Throne of Glass series. Many readers debate to read The Assassin’s Blade after Heir of Fire.

The reason behind this is that The Assassin’s Blade delves into the relationship between Celaena and Sam, and this connection holds greater significance after gaining a more in-depth understanding of these characters through the later books.

Then there is the debate to skip Tower of Dawn because there is such a big cliffhanger after Empire of Storms. I would recommend not to skip Tower of Dawn. The best option would be to tandem-read (Credit T.L. Branson) Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn.
